District reports: RULER SEL, Read 180, special-education rating and school activities

Kimber Larson presented the elementary report: enrollment stands at 264, the school has introduced RULER as its social-emotional learning curriculum, each classroom is drafting a charter about how they want their class to feel, staff completed a half-day SIP training, and about 20 families attended a RULER family night. The elementary is collecting soda tabs for Ronald McDonald House and plans a community day on Oct. 22.
Jolene Miller said the Science Review Committee met and the district’s ESA Title Grant was approved on Sept. 5. Read 180 has been introduced at elementary and middle school for at-risk students and 'Lunch & Learn' programming resumes next week. Matthew Swanson reported the special education program received 'Meet Requirements' across all 12 indicators; preschool enrollment is 12 in the a.m. session and 9 in the p.m. session, with the next preschool screening on Nov. 6.
Erik Borne reviewed high school activity: Homecoming Week events included volleyball, a bonfire, a Saturday dance, and college-visit plans for underclassmen. The board heard these reports during its Sept. 15 meeting; no formal board action was recorded on curriculum items at that time.
