Village of Industry board selects Badger AMI remote-read meters

The Village of Industry Board of Trustees voted March 18 to install Badger AMI remote-read water meters, choosing Badger over proposals from Mueller and Sensus.
Benton & Associates representative Doug recommended Badger and Sensus as the top providers and told trustees that Sensus "has great service" while his experience with Mueller's service "has not been as good." Trustees debated automatic meter infrastructure (AMI) versus automatic meter reading (AMR) systems; the board was told AMI adds about $8,000 to the price but provides leak detection and includes new lids. Doug estimated the total project cost at approximately $200,000. Trustee Thompson moved to select the Badger AMI remote-read system; Trustee Murray seconded and a roll vote was held. The vote was reported as unanimous and the motion carried.
Clerk Shelley Larson will include a final vendor quote at the board's April meeting; the minutes note that Doug will be absent from that meeting. The board's discussion recorded service experience, equipment features and an approximate project total as the primary considerations in choosing Badger.
