Streets superintendent outlines maintenance plans; Rapp Street asphalting estimated at $28,000

Streets Superintendent Eric Dauphin told the council crews have been street sweeping, filling potholes and doing spring clean-up and that, "Once weather gets warmer, we will start on the tubes that need to be put in." He said he met with David Handel from Erickson Paving about asphalting Rapp Street near the library and that the estimated cost would be about $28,000.
City Clerk Lisa Dauphin said staff will attend an MFT meeting with IDOT at the county building to ask how Motor Fuel Tax funds can be used for the Rapp Street project. Dauphin also reported brake repairs on the 2007 dump truck and thanked staff for reinstalling a speed-limit sign in front of the new USDA building. The council publicly thanked Superintendent Dauphin for his years of service and noted a cake will be served after the meeting to celebrate his retirement.
Council members did not vote on the Rapp Street project at the meeting; the record shows the estimate and the next step is to seek MFT guidance from IDOT.
