Residents raise farmland and transparency concerns as council tables JEDC MOU

Speakers asked whether the Jersey Economic Development Council (JEDC) is private, how it is funded, who sits on its board, and raised questions about the use of prime farmland and water-retention planning.
Mayor Kevin Stork and City Attorney William Strang responded for the council. Both said the MOU on the agenda was tabled because of appropriations. Strang and Stork described the JEDC as a private corporation funded by contributions from local businesses and said the City's role would be supportive and limited; they explained vetting processes sometimes require confidentiality and emphasized that any applicant would still need Planning and Zoning review and council approval for rezoning or development.
