The Jerseyville City Council on Nov. 12 approved an ordinance amending Title 11, Chapter 7, Section 11-7-2c of the city code to add a B-3 business district allowing permitted uses for adult education, training and work centers.
City Attorney William Strang explained that the Illinois Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) is interested in purchasing roughly 6 to 8 acres on June Street and that the zoning change will allow the necessary classification if the property moves forward through the rezoning process. Any development would still require Planning and Zoning Board review and a council vote on rezoning and related approvals.
