Jerome trustees approve 6-foot fence at village property after debate over barb wire and cost

Attorney Jason Brokaw advised that an 8-foot fence and barb wire would require a variance. Trustee Dale Lael opposed fencing higher than six feet and said the Village need not spend funds on this. The motion, presented by Trustee Christofilakos and seconded by Trustee Cannella, passed on roll call with Trustee Lael recorded as the lone NO vote.
Trustees asked Public Works to inventory what materials would be stored at the site and to explore reducing fence height and adding slats or mesh as alternatives to barb wire.
