At its Sept. 17 meeting the Jerseyville City Council unanimously reappointed Chris Skinner to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners; Commissioner John Miles moved the reappointment and Commissioner Zachary Crawford seconded. The minutes record the term will expire in April 2027 and that the vote was unanimous.
The council approved a proclamation designating the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day and granted permission to close West Pearl Street from Lafayette Street to Washington Street and to close Washington Street from West Exchange Street to West Pearl Street from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for a ceremony. The minutes note Mr. Greg Breden was present for the meeting.
The council also approved sending the City Clerk and deputy clerks to the 2024 Municipal Clerks of Illinois Institute and Academy in Bloomington Oct. 6–11, 2024. Mayor Kevin Stork additionally offered brief announcements thanking Will Strang for the Rock the Block concert, announcing the police department lobby is open, and noting City Hall improvements are nearing completion.
