The Jerseyville City Council on Sept. 3 approved a $1,000 tourism grant to the Jerseyville Teens program to help fund a pickleball tournament scheduled for Sept. 21–22 at Wittman Park. Commissioner John Miles moved the measure and Commissioner Zachary Crawford seconded; the council voted unanimously to approve the grant.
Officer Seth Tefertiller told the council that "sign up for this year’s program is 50% more than last year," and noted that Eventbrite takes 10% of the entry fee. He said the scholarship tied to the event will be $750 this year, up from $500 last year. The motion was recorded beginning in SEG 004 and concluded in SEG 005.
