Brooks approves $39,920 traffic study to study Hwy 85 Connector/Morgan Mill Rd; vote 2-1

Town Manager M. Ungaro told the council a traffic study is required to move forward with improvements at the Hwy 85 Connector and Morgan Mill Road intersection as part of a recently awarded federal grant. He said Mallett Engineering submitted the lowest qualified bid at $39,920; LJA bid $46,200 and Michael Baker Associates bid $55,884. Ungaro recommended using LMIG funds to pay for the study. "Mallett Engineering submitted the lowest qualified bid of $39,920," he reported.
Council Member Bishop Watts moved to approve the Mallett Engineering Traffic Study Proposal and Council Member Sara Nelson seconded. The motion passed with Watts and Nelson voting yea and Council Member Brian Davis voting nay. Resident P. Bradley asked where a required 20% match (if the project proceeds) would be funded; staff said funding and matching requirements would be addressed as project details are developed.
