Commissioner Michael Sullivan told the Council on Aug. 6 that ShoreRiver Keepers tested LaTrappe Creek and found high bacteria levels. Sullivan urged the Town to try to determine the source of contamination.
Councilors responded that LaTrappe Creek lies outside the town limits and that the Town lacks authority to enter private property to investigate; the Council recommended referring the matter to County authorities. Sgt. Aita also presented the monthly police report and said the Sheriff’s Office will continue speed enforcement using the speed trailer; the Council noted enforcement has reduced speeds, according to the report.
