Construction representatives at the ceremony described the technical scope of work at Station 8 and thanked local tradespeople who staffed the project.
A contractor representative identified the design-build team and named local firms involved, saying the job recorded about 23,400 safe man-hours and finished roughly three weeks ahead of schedule. "So, over time, 23,400 man hours went into this job, safe man hours," the contractor said.
The team raised the apparatus bay three feet, replaced doors with units that open in about three seconds instead of 25, and added functional facilities such as women's locker rooms and a fitness area. Representatives said those changes allow the station to accommodate larger, modern equipment and improve response times.
