Youth Advisory Council previews capstone projects, seeks reappointments

Manager Preston Neill introduced a PowerPoint and Youth Advisory Council members presented highlights from the 2025–2026 school year. Thea Mahlin said “communication with one another” was one of the “biggest highlights” of serving on the board; Masen Barker, Mayor Pro Tem of the Youth Council, said his biggest takeaway was learning about “government structure”; Orion Krois noted they focused on “local issues”; Sloan Patton said the board learned about “understanding how things work from inside the Town”; and Sunny Wick said they gained an understanding of “the process and how things work.”
Thea Mahlin presented the capstone project proposal to revive free movie nights on the Hartwell Park stage, including outreach, advertising, sponsorships and a marketing plan to provide movies for all age groups. The Town Manager stated the Council agreed to reappoint the Youth Council members for the next school year and commended them for being engaged.
