Beaver Creek diversion restoration substantially complete; council to consider infiltration gallery

The Town Manager and project consultant Ron Alexander told council that primary construction on the Beaver Creek Diversion Restoration Project has been substantially completed following storm damage to prior diversion infrastructure. Alexander described the new diversion structure, stream stabilization measures, automated flow controls, remote monitoring capabilities, solar‑powered equipment and approximately 1,000 feet of new pipeline.
Remaining items include consideration of a supplemental infiltration gallery; council asked questions about monitoring capabilities, revegetation, water flows and long‑term capacity of the Ridgway Ditch system. The Town Manager said project costs are expected to remain below the previously estimated total project budget of approximately $4 million and that funding came from a combination of federal disaster assistance, state grants and Town matching funds.
Alexander emphasized that the new diversion is designed to capture available water more efficiently despite environmental conditions that may reduce overall water availability in a dry year. Council directed staff to return with more detailed information on the proposed infiltration gallery at a future special meeting.
