Arts council’s “Hippos for Christmas” public-art display approved

The Jersey County Arts Council’s request to stage a public-art event called “Hippos for Christmas” was approved by the council. Sherry Droste presented the project and said it would be similar to the city’s previous “Cow” parade; she said there will be at most 25 decorated hippo sculptures on display and outlined other Arts Council projects in progress.
Commissioner Zachary Crawford made the motion to approve the request and Commissioner Anthony Steckel seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the Arts Council’s intent to support downtown events and seasonal activities.
