The council voted to publish notice of a proposed exchange of real property with Illinois American Water Company under 65 ILCS 5/11-76.2.1 and set a public hearing for Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 6:00 p.m. City Attorney William Strang explained the swap would let the city acquire land on Maple Summit Road to expand a police training/shooting facility near an existing firing range, plus a three-quarter-acre parcel on West Fairgrounds Avenue to use as a dump site. Illinois American Water Company will compensate the city $22,500 because the city’s parcel has a higher appraised value.
The council approved the resolution authorizing publication and scheduled the hearing; the exchange and compensation amount were presented in the meeting minutes and described by the city attorney.
