Council clears Downtown Country Christmas festival use of City Center Park, closures and decorations

The council approved Downtown Country Christmas Inc.'s use of City Center Park on Nov. 30, waived the rental fee, authorized street and lot closures and decorations, and temporarily renamed Park Place Road to "Memory Lane" during the event.
The council approved several items to accommodate the Downtown Country Christmas Festival and Bright Nights event on Nov. 30, 2024. The council approved use of City Center Park and waived the park rental fee for Downtown Country Christmas Inc.; Michael Ward participated on the teleconference line.
Council also approved closures of the section of Jefferson and Pearl streets that surround City Center Park and closure of parking lots C and D for specified times (first closure window 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.; additional closures 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for lots). The council authorized the festival organizers to display decorations on City property and approved temporarily renaming Park Place Road in Dolan Park to "Memory Lane" during the festival to mark the event's 10th anniversary. One agenda item'a proposed mutual agreement and statement of work between the City and Downtown Country Christmas Festival, Inc. for the 2024'26 events'was tabled.
