Trappe delays interior water-tower maintenance after test causes pressure loss

Katherine McAllister of engineering firm GMB told the council that attempts to take the Trappe water tower offline for scheduled interior maintenance produced a dramatic drop in pressure and left some residents without water. "The tower is in moderate condition and the interior maintenance is not critical at this time," McAllister said, and she presented several expensive options to proceed.
After discussion, the council voted to postpone the interior work, ask Southern Corrosion to inspect the tower twice a year, and review the maintenance plan again after the next inspection and after Lakeside brings its new tower online. Superintendent Shawn Lane and McAllister said Lakeside's upcoming infrastructure will reduce risk when the town next takes the tower offline.
