Trappe council introduces ordinance to regulate placement of refuse receptacles; public hearing set for Oct. 1

President Newnam read Ordinance 6-2025, proposed to amend Section 13.6 of the Trappe Town Code to establish regulations for placement of refuse and other waste receptacles within town limits. Commissioner Rose Potter moved to introduce the ordinance and Commissioner Walter Chase seconded.
The motion to introduce passed 4–1, with Commissioner Brian Schmidt recorded as voting no and Commissioners Sullivan, Newnam, Potter and Chase recorded as yes. The council scheduled a public hearing on the ordinance for October 1, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Implementation specifics and any penalties or enforcement timelines were not recorded in the minutes and will be addressed during the public hearing and subsequent meetings.
