Trappe Council narrows trash placement window, reopens hearing through Nov. 5

The Trappe Town Council voted unanimously on Oct. 1 to amend Ordinance 6-2025, changing the hours when residents may place refuse at the curb. Commissioner Brian Schmidt moved to require that refuse be placed "no earlier than 2:00 pm on the day prior to collection and trash containers must be removed from the street no later than 8:00 pm on collection day," a change the council approved without objection.
President Newnam had opened a public hearing earlier in the meeting and read an email from resident Bobby Croswell that was filed with the record. After approving the amendment, the council voted to reopen the public hearing and accept additional written and oral comments until the Nov. 5 council meeting. The amendment and the extended comment period will be on the Nov. 5 agenda for final action and any further revisions.
