President Newnam said the council opened a public hearing at 5:55 p.m. and read "Ordinance 5-2025 – An Ordinance of the Town of Trappe to amend Section 14 of the Trappe Town Code titled 'Water and Sewer', to prohibit private potable and non-potable wells in Town, except under certain circumstances." No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
Commissioner Rose Potter moved to adopt Ordinance 5-2025 and Commissioner Walter Chase seconded. The council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance (Schmidt – Y; Sullivan – Y; Newnam – Y; Potter – Y; Chase – Y). The ordinance amends Section 14 of the town code to prohibit private potable and non-potable wells in town except as specified within the ordinance text read into the record. The town minutes record the ordinance reading and the 5–0 vote. The ordinance was read during the public hearing and again as part of the order of business; the hearing record showed no public comment.
