The Commission authorized the City Manager to acquire easements needed for the New Street Pedestrian Streetscape project and approved multiple contractor payments for ongoing capital projects.
Notable authorizations included Payment #31 in the amount of $2,938,918.00 to Charles Black Construction Co., Inc. for the Buford City Stadium project; the motion to authorize that payment was made by Commissioner Bradley W. Weeks and approved unanimously. The Commission also approved Payment #27 ($35,762.00) to Charles Black Construction Company for the New Street relocation project (to be paid from SPLOST and general funds), Payment #1 ($43,224.19) to John D. Stephens, Inc. for Southside Sewer, Phase III, and change order #1 and Payment #1 ($157,796.87) to Backbone Infrastructure, LLC for the New Street Roundabout project, along with Payment #4 ($195,475.22) to Backbone Infrastructure for the Moreno Street LCI project.
The Commission voted to release pledged funds with Peoples Bank & Trust; Chairman Phillip Beard abstained from that vote (Ayes 2, Nays 0, Abstained 1). These authorizations advance construction milestones across multiple infrastructure projects in Buford.
