Resident urges comp-plan climate and wildlife updates; commissioners report on fair and wildfire response

During citizen input, Amy Sabadini of Bend addressed the board and urged commissioners to keep current environmental stresses in mind when refining the 2040 comprehensive plan. "You've seen this drought and the wildfires... I've seen the mule deer population plummeting," she said, urging the county to consider additional revisions to the plan where appropriate.
In commissioner announcements, members described the recent Deschutes County Fair as well attended despite smoke and wildfire concerns and thanked firefighters for containment work. The chair noted ongoing weather uncertainty and encouraged residents to make homes more fire resilient and to keep neighboring counties in mind as regional firefighting efforts continue.
