Shasta College TRIO Upward Bound staff and program alumni presented to the Corning Union High School District Board on Sept. 11 about a six-week summer program that included college visits and opportunities to earn early college credits.
Assistant Director Patricia Esparza said 26 Corning students participated and that the district-requested agriculture course was added to the curriculum. Student alumni including Gabe Esparza, Manuel Hernandez and Ally Curiel told trustees they enjoyed the program, college visits and earning credits that gave them a head start on postsecondary work.
Board members thanked presenters and noted the program aligns with district goals to expand early college credit and CTE pathways.
