Farmingdale reports 1,4-dioxane exceedance at Well 2-3; county approval required to return it to service

Village staff reported Well 1-3 operational, SCADA nearing completion and that Well 2-3 exceeds 1,4-dioxane levels; Philip Ross Industries is working to return Well 2-3 to service but Nassau County Health Department approval is required.
Village officials told the board that Well 1-3 are fully operational and Plant 2 Well 2-2 is being used manually to fill tanks and can be placed "to system" if needed. The SCADA upgrade is nearing completion.
Mayor Ralph Ekstrand reported that 1,4-dioxane levels are over limits at Well 2-3. Philip Ross Industries reported that Well 2-3 will be back in operation as soon as possible, but the village must obtain approval from the Nassau County Health Department before placing that well back into service. Quarterly sampling, UCMR testing and alarm monitoring are underway to support compliance and decision-making.
