The Board approved a new job description that allows Chawanakee Unified to hire a classified Behavior Specialist rather than limiting the role to credentialed staff. Human Resources Director Robert French said the change will help the district recruit candidates with specialized behavioral support experience who do not hold teaching credentials.
Member Seth Waltner moved for adoption; Jack Thornburg seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Trustees characterized the action as a personnel-management tool to increase the candidate pool for behavioral and social-emotional support positions.
