Farmingdale reports wells operational, 1,4‑dioxane readings 'good for testing' and Well 2‑3 pending county approval

At the Sept. 15 work session the Water Department reported that Well 1‑3 is fully operational and Plant 2 Well 2‑2 is manually operational and being used to fill tanks, with the option to place it “to system” if needed. The SCADA control system is nearing completion and an evaluation of a ground tank roof and structure has been completed with next steps under development.
Philip Ross Industries informed the board that Well 2‑3 will be returned to service as soon as possible but requires approval from the Nassau County Health Department before being placed back online. Mayor Ralph Ekstrand requested the latest 1,4‑dioxane readings for all wells; the minutes record that "1,4 Dioxane levels are good for testing." Staff also reported ongoing monthly sampling and that lead and copper completion letters were handed to participating residents.
