The Solano County Office of Education recognized student achievements and presented school‑planning updates at the Nov. 12 meeting. George Wells introduced Manny, the SCOE Special Education student of the month, describing his bilingual skills and classroom perseverance. Later, Golden Hills Community School presented Jalaiah (Shalea) Armstrong Goodwin as student of the month and staff praised her dedication to coursework.
Dr. Valerie Garrett then presented School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA) for Golden Hills Community School and Evergreen Academy (juvenile court community school programs). Garrett said the documents align with the county LCAP and focus on academic supports, mental health/wellness and college and career readiness. She noted enrollment numbers were changing daily (examples given: 15 enrolled at Golden Hills, 11 at Evergreen, 29 in independent studies) and reminded the board that the SPSAs would return for board approval in December.
