Council approves $106,000 amendment for PlaceWorks to support annexation environmental work
Summary
Council authorized a second amendment to the PlaceWorks professional services agreement to provide environmental planning services for an anticipated annexation (the Golden Triangle), increasing the contract by $106,000 to complete required environmental review ahead of an application to LAFCO.
Staff told the council the amendment with PlaceWorks will fund environmental services necessary to support a planned annexation and a LAFCO application for roughly 78 acres in the Golden Triangle area east of the I-10 Freeway. The city must complete environmental review, consider a general plan amendment and pre-zone action, and then proceed to the planning commission before forwarding a recommendation to the council and LAFCO.
A councilmember moved to approve the second amendment increasing the PlaceWorks contract by $106,000 for additional environmental planning services; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call. Staff estimated the annexation and LAFCO process would take approximately four to six months once environmental work is complete.
