The council unanimously adopted the 2026–2031 Beaumont Economic Development Strategic Plan, a five-year strategy developed with consultant TIP Strategies following data analysis and community and stakeholder engagement.
Jeff Marcell of TIP Strategies described the plan as "the culmination of a tremendous amount of work done by folks all across Beaumont," emphasizing the project's data-driven approach and community outreach. Staff highlighted four guiding principles — sustainability, equity, accountability and livability — and six strategic initiatives including business retention and expansion, target industries, retail corridors, strategic land activation, quality-of-place improvements, and promotion of Beaumont.
Council members praised the implementation matrix included with the plan as a practical tool for tracking actions and partners, and the council moved and voted to adopt the plan as presented. Staff will use the matrix to prioritize actions and report progress.
