The policy references the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights and its Interpretation, "Exhibits, Displays, and Bulletin Boards," and clarifies priorities for library‑initiated displays as well as procedures for community displays.
Board materials note the policy includes enforcement standards, safety and reconsideration procedures, and guidance for Library‑hosted art exhibits and sales procedures. The Board voted unanimously to adopt the policy; it is intended to ensure intellectual freedom principles are applied consistently in library programming and displays.
