School districts keep 12-mill foundation; BOCES and recreation mills vary by district

Deputy Assessor Angie Wilson summarized the school-district components that feed property tax statements: "School district, every school district has their foundation fund at 12 mills," Wilson said. She explained that districts also carry a county mill (6) and local mills (commonly 25), and that BOCES and recreation mills vary by district.
Wilson listed individual requests and noted one district had voted in an additional 2 mills for adult education. She provided commissioners with a breakdown of which regions contribute to each district's BOCES levy and confirmed the packet included individual budgets for commissioners to examine.
