Council approves ordinance adding three holidays to employee handbook

Staff summarized that Clarksville currently observes 12 holidays and that a comparison with neighboring communities showed Clarksville observed fewer. The ordinance would add Presidents' Day, Columbus Day (also noted as Indigenous Peoples' Day in the presentation), and Veterans Day. Staff recommended approval of Ordinance 2025-G-22. Councilman Ramsey moved the measure; it was seconded and approved by unanimous voice/hand vote.
The clerk noted the measure required a second vote after the council's Dec. 16 discussion. With this second affirmative vote the town will add the three holidays to its employee handbook as recommended by staff.
