Council fills planning, redevelopment, and advisory boards during organizational meeting
Summary
The newly seated president led the council through a series of reappointments and new nominations to the planning commission, redevelopment commission, building commission, police and fire merit boards, parks and other advisory bodies; most motions passed by voice or hand vote.
After seating the new council president, members moved through a packed slate of appointments to boards and commissions.
The council reappointed three planning-commission members (Jennifer Voynier, Tony Munich and Damon Smith) and approved nominations to the building commission, the redevelopment commission, the parks and recreation board, and several other advisory committees. Motions were routinely seconded and approved, with occasional abstentions noted during roll calls.
Specific appointments discussed included Dennis Hamill to a council-appointed fire board seat, reappointment of Mick Rutherford to the Parks and Recreation Board, and nominations to the Historic Preservation Commission (Holly Hubrick, Lynn Lewis and Ted Branstetter) and the Arch Commission. The president also named representatives to the Ohio River Greenway Commission and the ADA compliance grievance committee.
Council members said they would follow up on two pending 911 openings and other vacancies and confirmed that some presidential appointments are pending and require subsequent confirmation where appropriate.
