Town staff said the FY2025 salary ordinance must be amended to reflect terms in the new labor contract with the Fraternal Order of Police. "With the approval of the new labor contract with the Fraternal Order of Police, it is necessary to amend the fiscal year 2025 salary ordinance as it relates to police officers," staff told the council.
Councilwoman Henderson moved to approve ordinance 2025 S10; Councilwoman Schiller seconded. The council approved the ordinance on first reading and then again on second reading that same night, with the president calling each vote and members responding "aye." Council members did not identify specific funding sources during the vote and asked staff to include the changes in the weekly report and provide clear numbers before final appropriation.
The clerk-treasurer reiterated state timing requirements for salary ordinances and staff said the town will include the ordinance changes in the fiscal documents for next year.
