SCOE's communications, community engagement and emergency-management team briefed trustees on outreach, branding and internal request systems.
Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Leonard said the communications office functions as a "conduit and a megaphone" for programs and described a creative request ticketing system that recorded 763 requests last school year. Leonard highlighted campaigns such as Faces Friday that elevate classroom work and youth voice, and stressed the importance of face-to-face engagement to build relationships that support students and families.
Leonard also outlined emergency communication work, noting cross-agency committees, facility improvements and radio/equipment upgrades that came out of internal preparedness efforts. She said the office partners with program teams to make materials more accessible (for example, turning a lengthy special-education handbook into a visual guide) and supports district-facing events and campaigns.
