The Solano County Board of Education adopted Proclamation P25-26-01 honoring Superintendent Lisette Estrella Henderson on the occasion of her retirement at the end of August. The proclamation recited Henderson's educational background, decades of service in Solano County and contributions to county education.
Trustees read the proclamation in full and voted to adopt it by roll call. Several trustees offered personal tributes praising Henderson's leadership, community connections and long service; a tribute video was shown and field representatives from congressional offices presented a joint congressional record statement and a resolution from state legislative offices.
Superintendent Henderson delivered prepared remarks reflecting on her career and the pandemic-era challenges and successes of SCOE. "Serving as the county superintendent of schools has been one of the greatest honors of my life," she said in prepared comments read to the board. Trustees and guests presented congratulatory remarks and the meeting included a photo opportunity and ceremonial presentations.
