City manager: unsheltered count rose but Pathway Home sheltered 27 people

City Manager Dylan Feek told the council at a special meeting Aug. 4 that the latest point-in-time count showed the unsheltered population in Monrovia increased from 9 people to 15, while the number of people counted as sheltered rose from 0 to 27 because of the Pathway Home project.
"We went from 0 persons sheltered to 27 persons sheltered because of the Pathway Home project," Feek said, and added the count now includes sheltered individuals that were not captured in some prior counts. Feek also said the county reported that 52 people were served over the period that Pathway Home operated, and "the vast majority of them were all moved into permanent supportive housing in Baldwin Park." He said a small handful either chose not to participate in the program or were removed for failing to follow program guidelines.
Mayor (presiding) asked for follow-up data on longer-term housing stability for those placed by Pathway Home; Feek said he would look for additional county-provided details and report back to the council. The discussion closed with the mayor noting the program ended in February and that six months of follow-up data would be useful to determine whether placements remained permanent.
