Durham County names Ileana Vink as new early childhood coordinator

Durham County announced the internal hiring of Ileana Vink as the county’s new early childhood coordinator. Donna Rewalt, county extension director, introduced Vink and described the role as leading Durham County’s Early Childhood Action Plan (ECAP) work, coordinating early‑childhood initiatives and providing leadership on Durham Pre‑K and related programs.
Vink, who previously worked in the county Department of Public Health as an early‑care and education coordinator, said she has spent five years in county service and described priorities including convening partners, centering community voices and expanding supports such as diapers, early childhood mental‑health services and peer navigators. Commissioners congratulated Vink and welcomed her continued county service in the new role.
