County declines cybersecurity grant after IT review citing long-term costs

"Our IT company does not recommend that we use it," the presenter said, adding that the county already has an on-premises solution that staff and IT prefer. Commissioners agreed and directed staff not to pursue the grant and to continue relying on their existing IT arrangements.
The board did not take formal fiscal action on the grant but recorded the staff recommendation and declined to proceed based on IT advice; staff will note the decision in grant-tracking records.
