The board presented a JustServe City certificate recognizing Kingsport for volunteerism and community partnerships; a JustServe representative said Kingsport is one of 147 JustServe cities globally and only the second in Tennessee. The presenter praised local volunteer networks and said the designation helps connect citizens and organizations to service opportunities.
Vice Mayor Duncan and the board also introduced Eliza Sanders as the newly crowned Miss Kingsport. Sanders said she was born in Guangdong, China, adopted and raised in Kingsport, and described past volunteer work with the Boys & Girls Club, Girls Inc., the United Way of Greater Kingsport and OASIS. "I am your newly crowned miss Kingsport, and I'm just so grateful to be here," she said, and offered to attend city events to support local organizations.
