Planning commission backs Acute Pet Urgent Care special-use recommendation for Center Road

The Avon Planning Commission on April 15 voted to recommend that City Council approve a Special Use Permit for Acute Pet Urgent Care to operate a 3,000-square-foot urgent veterinary clinic at 2100 Center Road. Dr. Doug Hoffman told the commission the clinic would operate like a human urgent-care model, treating common non-life-threatening emergencies and typically keeping patients thirty minutes to ninety minutes before discharge.
Dr. Hoffman summarized the proposal and operations: "operating hours from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m." He said the facility would not provide overnight hospitalization or boarding and would limit surgical care to laceration and wound repairs rather than spays, neuters or orthopedic procedures. Planning staff confirmed the use is permitted via Special Use Permit if overnight stays and outdoor runs are not proposed and recommended a positive recommendation to City Council. The commission suspended its rules and voted unanimously to recommend approval.
