District staff told the board the district is entering negotiations season and explained the sunshine‑proposal process that frames bargaining items.
Staff said the classified collective bargaining agreement is a three‑year deal that limits bargaining to health and welfare, salaries and up to two additional items; consequently, the classified union's sunshine proposal will focus primarily on compensation and benefits. Staff said they expect to present the district's response and to receive the certificated (teacher) sunshine proposal at the next meeting.
Board members and staff described the district's positive negotiating environment and emphasized that relationship building has improved morale and trust ahead of bargaining. No formal bargaining decisions were made at the meeting; staff will bring formal proposals and responses in future sessions.
