Gainey Family Foundation grants fund auto analyzer, Chalk Festival and computer lab upgrades

Superintendent Kim announced that the Gainey Family Foundation donated funds to the San Ynez Pirate Foundation to support teacher grants and introduced three recipients.
Gary Simerjian thanked the board for a $6,500 grant to purchase a six‑gas analyzer. He described classroom and auto-shop uses, saying the device measures hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen and NOx and helps identify issues such as misfires and leaky exhausts.
Mister Goodman described receiving $2,000 to help bring back a Chalk Festival to the valley, reduce environmental waste from prior events and expand participation to junior high and private schools. Miss Lee said her $22,458 grant will upgrade a 21‑machine computer lab where only two or three machines are recent; the funds will support digital media, photography, video production, graphic design and yearbook production.
Board members praised the foundation's broad support for career technical pathways, the arts and academics and thanked teachers for pursuing grants that expand student opportunities.
