The Santa Cruz County Board of Education provisionally appointed Stacy Kyle to fill the Area 4 vacancy and unanimously adopted the appointment by roll call.
Stacy Kyle, who applied for the seat during a public interview and answered six pre-circulated questions, told trustees she believes "the basic purpose of public schools is to provide a free and appropriate education in a safe space for every student" and said she would prioritize representation and learning to do the job well. After the motion and second, the board voted in favor of the provisional appointment; Dr. Sabah then administered the oath of office.
Kyle told trustees she would rely on staff expertise and legal requirements when making decisions, and emphasized listening to students and the community. The appointment fills the seat through the next regularly scheduled governing board election in November 2026.
