At a public meeting the Santa Cruz County Office of Education disclosed the fiscal impacts of its 2025–26 collective bargaining agreement with the Santa Cruz County Education Association (teachers), reporting a 5% increase to the salary schedule and a total compensation increase the presenter gave as $673,425.
The presenter explained the settlement included a $533,289 increase to the salary schedule plus additional employer-paid statutory benefits, and that the district has accounted for the cost in its adopted 2025–26 budget. "Our financials included this cost are in our adopted budget for 25/26," the presenter said. Staff emphasized that no additional adjustments to the adopted budget were required as a result of the settlement.
Board members thanked staff for transparency. Trustee Larson called the disclosure "above and beyond what's required," and trustees praised the staff team responsible for compiling the data.
The presentation was informational only; no action was required from the Board.
