The City Council on Aug. 4 approved a $64,000 amendment to the professional services agreement for construction management and inspection on the Adams Avenue bicycle facility project (Harbor Boulevard to Ferry Road).
Transportation Services Manager Paul Martin said the project encountered unstable soils requiring additional excavation, compaction testing and import of higher-quality soil to support landscaping and tree plantings; phasing the work to maintain traffic also increased inspection needs. The project upgraded plastic bollard separations to extruded concrete curbs for improved safety; the amendment covers additional inspection and monitoring services, and the funding is available within the previously approved project budget.
Council approved the staff recommendation; the amendment will allow the construction-management team to complete the project and finish required federal grant paperwork.
