Bridgeport committee moves to consolidate magnet lottery rules into two policies

(Claudia) The redraft collapses three existing documents into two: one covering elementary magnet requirements and one covering high school magnet requirements, plus a separate signaling policy for implementation details.
Members agreed the new structure is intended to make policy language easier for parents to find and to reduce frequent editing when school assignments change. The committee discussed where to place a new sentence requiring applicants to accept lottery guidelines established by the superintendent and board policy so it applies to both elementary and high‑school sections.
Next steps: the chair said she will present a referral and draft proposal to the full board at its Aug. 24 meeting, and the policy committee will review any redlines there before final adoption.
