Carmela Principal Dr. Magaña reviewed student achievement results from the 2025 CAASPP assessments in English language arts and math and outlined areas of progress and those needing targeted focus. She described instructional priorities as "pillars of quality instruction at Carmela which includes clear standards, strong first teaching, student engagement, and support," and compared current results with the prior year to show where interventions are being targeted.
After the presentation the Board honored nine students who reclassified to English proficient: Valentina Chavez, Cielo Grande Ballesteros, Nathan Lujan Hernandez, Galilea Sanchez, Leia Leyva, Manuel Olguin, Christian Rojas, Jaime Cruz-Aldana and Edgar Romero Garibay. Board President Dr. Natalia Barajas and trustees welcomed families from Carmela and recognized student achievement; Principal Dr. Magaña and the Board framed the reclassifications as evidence of targeted instruction and student support.
