Board honors students and celebrates athletic successes, including CIF titles

The board paused its regular business to honor student achievement across athletics and academics. Dr. Sheehan highlighted recent successes: girls tennis won the school's first-ever CIF championship, girls golf won back-to-back CIF championships and the football team recorded its first CIF win in 14 years. She also noted cross-country accomplishments and individual records.
Two seniors were formally recognized: Cassidy Robinson, the Elks Club student of the month, was noted for a 3.8 GPA, involvement in cheer, track and the Black Student Union, and perseverance amid family health challenges; "Cassidy holds a 3.8 GPA and is enrolled in 2 AP courses and 2 concurrent Allan Hancock classes," the superintendent said. Adrian Garcia was named the Edward Jones student of the month; staff noted his 4.8 weighted GPA, nine AP classes and plans to study electrical engineering after graduation.
The board and coaches lauded the athletic programs and invited the community to upcoming games and the theater production. The recognitions were ceremonial and did not require board action.
