Department staff presented the 2026 Calumet County Land & Water Conservation Annual Workplan, a required deliverable for the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Soil and Water Resource Management (SWRM) grant. Reali told the committee the plan outlines the department's core activities for the year and, new this year, must directly tie proposed actions to goals in the county's Land and Water Resource Management (LWRM) plan. The minutes note that Calumet County's next LWRM plan review is scheduled for 2028.
Reali also reviewed grant timing and staffing impacts: the SWRM grant funds approximately 1.6 full-time equivalents (FTE) within the department, and the prior funding for portions of the Demonstration Farm Network required a new Nutrient Management Farmer Education grant application. The committee discussed plan elements including cropland, livestock, water quality, forestry, invasive species, wildlife, urban, and watershed management as required by the grant.
